Seafarers Website.

Steering the next generation of sailors.

seafarers’ international union of canada
web

Since 1938, the Seafarers’ International Union of Canada (SIU) has advocated for unlicensed sailors working across Canada’s coasts, the Great Lakes, and the St. Lawrence River. From defending cabotage laws to promoting safe working conditions, the SIU plays a vital role in protecting the rights and livelihoods of seafarers.

In response to changing times, the SIU embarked on the Seafarers website refresh to better connect with today’s maritime workforce. This update honors their rich legacy while embracing the needs of a modern digital audience. The new site needed to be user-friendly, reliable, and aligned with the union’s strong identity. Above all, it had to balance tradition with innovation to provide a seamless experience.

Dedication to fair labour standards, worker rights, and uniting the seafaring community across Canada’s coast and waterways.

STEADFAST.

The Seafarers website refresh brings together the SIU’s maritime roots and a clean, modern design. Deep navy, crisp white, and bold red carry through the organization’s existing identity, while strong typography and clear content sections make the site easy to navigate.

Beyond the visuals, the design reflects the people behind the SIU: skilled, hardworking, and committed to one another. Straightforward navigation and a clear content hierarchy help visitors find what they need, while the overall look honours the community the SIU represents and its continued support for seafarers, both today and in the years ahead.
