Mississippi Mills came to us looking for a map design to highlight key locations across the town of Almonte. They wanted to put special focus on buildings associated with the Almonte celebration. Their goal was to create an interesting and easy-to-use guide that connects residents and visitors to the community’s history and events.
We designed the Mississippi Mills map to blend charming illustration with clear function. Our aim was to balance functionality with visual appeal to capture the town’s unique character. Created for a community celebration, the map highlights key Almonte locations in an engaging and accessible format. This combination of practical navigation and artistic detail reflects the town’s character, while inviting exploration.
The final layout showcases illustrations of known Almonte landmarks and includes a simple, intuitive legend. Distinct symbols identify buildings involved in the celebration, making them easy to distinguish from other local highlights. By integrating playful yet informative visual elements, the map encourages residents and visitors alike to explore the town in greater depth. Soft, inviting colours and gentle shading enhance visual comfort, while clean, legible labels and a spacious overall layout improve readability.
