The Canadian Nuclear association (CNA) has been the national voice of Canada’s nuclear industry since 1960. CNA promotes the industry both nationally and internationally, working to increase awareness of the value of nuclear technology. They also deliver comprehensive policy research and advice, collaborating with partners in Canada and abroad to advance nuclear energy.
The CNA Factbook is an important publication offering facts and insights into the nuclear sector. Covering topics like global and domestic nuclear power, environmental and economic impacts, uranium and nuclear reactors, and radioactive waste transportation, the Factbook is rich with valuable information. The aim for this project was to design an informative piece that prioritizes organization and accessibility. The final piece needed to communicate complex data clearly while maintaining a tone that was professional, engaging, and easy to navigate.
Our goal was for the CNA Factbook design was to design a clear, approachable layout that makes it easy for readers to engage with a large amount of information. It needed to feel professional and credible, while still being visually inviting and easy to read. Design elements were chosen to balance clarity and visual interest. Bold colours, strong hierarchy, and a blend of functional icons and impactful imagery reinforce ease of navigation.
We designed a clean, engaging layout that invites and guides exploration. Sections are distinguished by distinct colour accents, leading readers and keeping content organized. Consistent use of type hierarchy and thoughtful spacing improves readability across all sections. Icons, charts, and imagery reinforce the content and emphasize key information. These design choices create an approachable and accessible experience that prioritizes the reader experience, but maintains the integrity of the information inside.
