The Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA) has represented Canada’s nuclear industry since 1960. As a national advocate, it promotes the industry’s role in supporting clean energy and economic growth. CNA also leads extensive policy work, offering expert research and advice on nuclear energy to both national and international audiences.
In support of its mission, CNA launched the Canadian Small Modular Reactor (SMR) roadmap—a collaborative initiative to explore how SMRs can help meet Canada’s future energy needs. To communicate the findings of this major undertaking, CNA approached us to design a website that would organize a complex body of information in a clear, compelling way. The result needed to balance clarity with engagement, supporting users of varying expertise.
The goal was not only to showcase the CNA SMR Roadmap website design, but also to support stakeholder understanding and trust. The content had to be both accessible and informative, reflecting CNA’s commitment to transparency and reliability.
To achieve this, we designed a clean, intuitive site with a strong visual hierarchy. Key messages are easy to find, thanks to a well-structured grid, colour blocks, and concise headings. Each section guides the reader through topics such as SMR development, benefits, and partnerships without overwhelming them.
We used CNA’s distinctive brand palette, typography, and dotted-line motif to maintain familiarity and consistency across the site. These elements reinforce the organization’s identity while supporting navigation and readability. The result is a web experience that helps users absorb information quickly while feeling confident in the content’s credibility. The CNA SMR Roadmap website design reflects the future-facing nature of the nuclear industry while staying grounded in user needs.
