The CNA Reconciliation Action Plan is a professional learning resource created for Canada’s nuclear industry. It helps individuals and organizations understand how to build respectful relationships with Indigenous Nations and communities. Through education and reflection, the document encourages meaningful, long-term engagement, fostering greater cultural awareness, mutual respect, and the foundation for lasting, inclusive partnerships across the nuclear sector.
CNA’s vision for the guide was clear from the start. The design needed to be accessible, easy to navigate, and visually understated. It had to strike a careful balance—professional and informative, while also conveying care and respect. Our goal was to support the reader’s experience without overwhelming them. For that reason, the layout gently reinforces the document’s core message of thoughtfulness and inclusion.
The visual direction for the CNA Reconciliation Action Plan was shaped by the work of artist Karly Cywink. Her illustrations appear on the front and back covers, grounding the guide in warmth and cultural significance. These visuals inspired the rest of the design—guiding choices in colour palette, layout, and motif. As a result, the guide feels cohesive, intentional, and deeply connected to its purpose.
To reflect the guide’s educational purpose, we emphasized clarity and structure. Clean layouts, generous white space, and intuitive navigation make the content easy to absorb. Meanwhile, key visuals and repeating graphic elements provide rhythm and reinforce the visual identity. Subtle design techniques help maintain engagement, while supporting content without distraction or confusion.
Every detail—from font selection to visual flow—was chosen with care. Ultimately, this document offers more than guidance; it represents a continuing effort toward collaboration, understanding, and thoughtful communication across cultures.
