A successful annual report outlines the information within in the simplest way possible, allowing for easy dissemination of the most important information within. It allows readers to see trends and plan for future goals. It makes dry information more easily digestible.
The audience for this project is the general public but especially stakeholders involved in any of Innovative Medicines Canada's member companies.
This microsite design respects the IMC branding, and adds significant flair; visual interest is created through integration of colourful imagery, pattern overlays, and a simple application of parallax – allowing the background images to move at different speeds as the user scrolls – a great way of creating dimension. As done in previous annual reports and other IMC collateral, images are colourized using the respective section’s colours. Section titles intersect with rectangular images on a clean white background, giving the site an elegant and modern appearance. The headers are set in large, thin type to add to the appeal of the site design, and body copy is set with generous spacing, adding to the contemporary look of the design.
To further improve visual interest and user experience, circular buttons in each section have an interactive hover animation, engaging the audience and reinforcing the slick presentation. This interactivity visually ties in with the shapes used throughout the site.
