Commissionaires Canada is a national, not-for-profit security company that employs hundreds of Canadians each year. With their national advertising campaigns reaching new employees and clients alike, Commissionaires required a refreshed web presence to deliver its mandate and promote brand recognition.
To serve Commissionaires’ broad audience, we designed an AODA AA compliant bilingual website that is dynamic, professional and impactful. Our team implemented colours and motifs from current Commissionaires advertisements, such as the forward slashes from the recent Beyond Service campaign. These small details create harmony between the website and other elements of the Commissionaires brand. The design treatment centred on negative space and selective use of colour to deliver an elevated and smart appearance.
The site was produced to take advantage of parallax, a modern web animation style where background elements scroll at a different pace than the foreground. This allows for a perceived depth of field and contributes to the site’s overall sleekness. A large, high-quality photo of a real Commissionaire serves as the header image, delivering brand recognition for the Commissionaires uniform. The authenticity of the photo is insightful for potential clients, allowing them to visualize the high level of service and training they can expect from Commissionaires employees.
As part of the website design, our team envisioned a unique menu solution, inspired by the angles in the Commissionaires logo. The toolbar portion of the menu features icons for easy access to relevant links such as preferred language, social media, search and division selection. The toolbar slides out to reveal an expanded list of menu items. We designed icons for each of Commissionaires’ 26 service offerings and nine industries. Each of these pages required a cover image, which we sourced and formatted from their image banks. Our team produced Commissionaires’ first official interactive map indicating each division and the territory in which they operate. This map serves as a visual key to help users determine which division’s homepage they should visit.
The Commissionaires website is a site designed for exceptional brand recognition, a clean and accessible user-interface, and a modern presentation of information. The design will serve as a clear path forward for the natural progression of the Commissionaires brand and is relevant for all audiences: clients, employees and the general public.
