Global Affairs Canada’s Business Women in International Trade (BWIT) program provides targeted support and services to Canadian women entrepreneurs, aimed at connecting them with international business opportunities that will help their companies grow. BWIT achieves this by preparing businesswomen for international markets: guiding them in assessing market potential, finding qualified contacts and resolving business problems.
The initiative publishes an annual newsletter to communicate expanded trade opportunities, advice and other valuable information to Canadian businesswomen involved in international trade. Working closely with BWIT, we have written and designed many of these newsletters, all highlighting the program’s many successes.
BWIT’s newsletters reach Canadian businesswomen across the country. They share lessons and experiences, and provide resources, links and tips for women navigating government export services and looking to do business abroad.
Needless to say, the documents impart a mass of information. They need to be carefully formatted to communicate clearly, with a clean flow of information and logical hierarchy of text. The documents also need to have an engaging design while conforming to the government’s Federal Identity Program policy and brand regulations.
In addition, the newsletters are produced in both English and French. They primarily feature supplied photography, with supplemental stock imagery; all supplied imagery must be screened for quality and feasibility in the printed documents.

On each of the newsletters we created for BWIT, the writing, design and layout work together seamlessly to promote the exchange of knowledge, intelligence and resources. The documents inspire and empower Canadian businesswomen to succeed in a global marketplace.
