// branding, identity
The Government of The Bahamas required an identity and communications materials to support their new National Development Plan: Vision2040. The plan acts as a roadmap for the future development of The Bahamas, implementing a policy framework to guide Government decision making and investment.
The initiative is aimed at addressing four main policy pillars: economy, governance, social policy, and environment, and is guided by extensive research and widespread public consultation.
We developed a logo highlighting the country’s national colours of yellow, blue and black for their cultural and political meanings. The yellow represents the golden sand and shining sun, the blue represents the sea surrounding the country, and the black symbolizes the strength of the Bahamian people. The triangle shapes represent progression, unification and direction.
The shapes and colours were repeated as a defining part of the brand throughout the collateral. This built a solid and recognizable unifying theme across their communications to establish a strong national association with the initiative.
To emphasize the idea of public collaboration and create a positive association with the initiative, we used imagery that accurately reflects the population, incorporating genuine photos of local people and events into the design theme. This helps the audience to build a relationship with the initiative and works to inspire fellowship among the public.
We integrated the theme throughout the variety of communications materials. We designed and developed templates, presentations, stationery, invitations, web graphics, brochures, promotional posters, and event banners and backdrops.
Overall, the brand reinforces the idea of moving forward and communicates positive national development through a theme that is engaging and appealing. The suite of materials is bright, bold and modern, conveying a progressive and inclusive governmental initiative for the future of all Bahamians.
