Plainly Speaking helps organizations and professionals to communicate clearly and effectively. They offer customized training and coaching to individuals and teams to help improve their communications in areas ranging from plain language writing to media relations and crisis communications.
Plainly Speaking required a name, visual identity and promotional materials to impart their service offering. They needed their visual brand to be straightforward and clean in order to be truly reflective of their organization, and to allow them to effectively communicate their services.
Working with their ideas and communications goals, we helped them to narrow down a name and decide on the most appropriate visual direction. We wanted the logo and accompanying visuals to be as simple and effective as possible, while creating a fresh, engaging and contemporary feel.
We created a logo with a bold, legible typeface using complementary colours with good visual contrast. We added a little speech bubble with their business initials to create an additional identifying feature. We repeated the speech bubble motif throughout their collateral to make their identity memorable and to reinforce their brand.
We collaborated with them to develop a visual theme, deciding on a bright, clean close-up crop of a desk showing a pencil, keyboard, notepad, phone, and coffee. This supports the idea of modern learning, practical tools and writing. The full-colour main image coordinates with their corporate colours to emphasize their brand and create unification across their visual communications.
We developed stationery and a clean, well-organized and visually cohesive promotional brochure. We created a fully responsive website that visually reinforces the quality of their services while providing easy dissemination of their offering. The site features parallax scrolling, which involves the background moving at a slower rate than the foreground, creating a three dimensional effect as you scroll. This provides a subtle element of depth as the information is presented cleanly over images that are reflective of their services.
