// branding, identity
Gesine (gə-SEE-nə) is an ultra-runner who supports charitable causes. She needed branded materials to help her communicate her goals as a runner in support of humanitarian initiatives, to gain recognition and bolster her efforts.
In the summer of 2018, Gesine launched her fundraising campaign for the Phoebe Rose Rocks Foundation, a charity that supports childhood cancer research. The campaign included many promotional events and spanned across several months, culminating in a 200-kilometre run from Montreal to Ottawa.
We worked with Gesine to decide on a simple and direct nomenclature that would be concise, memorable, and effective in social media. We developed a logo depicting a stylized runner, with a technique inspired by the sporty swirls commonly seen on running shoes.
The playfulness of the design is suitable for the various children’s foundations being supported through Gesine’s fundraising efforts. The soft curves convey a gentle kindness and compassion. A yellow ribbon texture for the digital graphics are a tribute to the yellow ribbon symbolizing childhood cancer.
Once her brand was established, we integrated it into an official sponsorship document for GesineRuns for the Phoebe Rose Rocks Foundation campaign. The brochure tells Gesine’s story, advocates for the charity, and outlines the benefits of different levels of sponsorship. We developed a variety of social media graphics and promotions to publicize her charitable events, encourage sponsorship, and raise awareness for the campaign.
Gesine completed the 200k marathon run on July 3, 2018 and continues to run in support of charities around the world. Follow her achievements at #gesineruns.
