// branding, identity
The Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA) is a non-profit organization representing the nuclear industry in Canada. They promote the development and growth of nuclear technologies for peaceful purposes. Each year, CNA hosts conferences, trade shows, and seminars, requiring a range of branding and visual communications materials to promote the various events.
CNA’s annual events are valuable tools in inspiring, influencing and educating participants. They provide beneficial networking opportunities and are key in promoting the nuclear industry and its place in our future. The events feature some of the world’s most prolific nuclear leaders, and many noted industry experts from trade, academia and government.
Although each event is uniquely branded with a particular theme, all of the identities must share a family appearance and overarching visual relationship to CNA through colour and visual tone, in order to develop a clear affiliation with their organization.
Using CNA’s corporate fonts, we developed a repeating sequence for the word clusters that remain consistent for multiple dates and event titles. We created a symbol for each conference based on its theme to act as the foundation in developing a complete brand for the event. The visual theme then has the ability to evolve as it extends throughout all of the collateral.
Each event requires a collection of communications materials in order to allow the event to run smoothly and professionally. We began by developing web banners, advertisements, and an online microsite containing all of the event information to promote and endorse the event. Potential participants need to be able to easily access information regarding how to register, who will be there, what is happening and when.
We created a program booklet to be provided to each participant upon arrival at the conference, containing all of the pertinent event information – keynote speaker bios, corporate sponsor info, location maps, and daily agendas etc. As well, we created a range of branded communications including booths, bannerstands, hotel key cards, presentation slides, name tags, and tent cards to ensure the event is well presented, professional and visually cohesive.
The outcome is a fully branded event that promotes positive perception of the nuclear industry. The materials help with wayfinding, scheduling and facilitate a smoothly-run, professional event, allowing participants to have a positive brand experience, and leaving with a heightened understanding and confidence in the future of nuclear.
