Cannamerx is a b2b auction platform operating in the emerging legal cannabis industry. They promote trading among licensed producers, like an eBay for the cannabis industry.
As a new company aiming to be a leader in a developing industry, Cannamerx required a high-impact brand that presented their service as unique, trustworthy and dynamic. We were tasked to create a corporate identity that would be the face of their company, overturning stereotypes and trailblazing into this new market.
We began by assisting in the naming of the organization. It needed to incorporate industry-standard terms that would provide recognizability, and it had to be memorable and unique. We applied ‘canna,’ an established industry title, and ‘merx,’ a decidedly commercial and credible term.
During our logo design process, we chose a chevron to communicate progress and movement. The sharp, solid shapes of the typeface and icon bring significance to Cannamerx’s values of security and stability. A hint of green in the “x” adds context to the otherwise neutral-coloured logo.
Our team designed business cards to develop the Cannamerx brand identity further with the specific objective of impressing potential stakeholders and partners. They were printed on thick stock paper, which has a more significant impact than standard-sized business cards and projects strength, durability and professionalism. The printing details included a spot UV gloss on the front cover in the shape of a chevron. Spot UV is a printing technique whereby a colourless gloss is printed onto the card in a specific shape, and the gloss shines when seen in the light. This approach gives the cards a sleek look that emphasizes the colours and type treatments we chose.
We also created a PowerPoint template to promote the Cannamerx brand at all professional and shareholder meetings.
Cannamerx’s identity communicates expertise, innovation and stability in an evolving, ambitious market. It offers them an edge over their competition and provides them with a solid design base for future brand collateral.
